Overview

With the rising energy demand driven by the smart industrial evolution and rapid growth of connected Internet of Things (IoT) devices, it has become essential to develop compact, energy-efficient, and cost-effective power supplies, particularly uninterruptible power supplies (UPS). UPS systems ensure continuous and seamless power delivery by providing short-term backup to critical loads such as telecommunications, data centres, hospitals, and other essential commercial or industrial facilities. This is achieved through two power conversion stages. In the first stage, a rectifier converts the input AC voltage to a DC voltage. In the second stage, the DC-link voltage is converted back to AC using an inverter, which is then fed to the load. Batteries are connected to the DC-link via a DC-DC charger converter to support power backup during outages. Key components such as IGBTs, MOSFETs, diodes, gate drivers, sensors, and microcontrollers play a vital role in ensuring efficient operation across all stages of conversion.

LTSCT’s Energy products are specifically designed to meet these evolving power supply requirements in UPS systems. Our current portfolio includes both traditional silicon (Si) power modules and advanced wide-bandgap devices such as Silicon Carbide (SiC) and Gallium Nitride (GaN), offering flexible solutions for diverse power and performance needs. LTSCT also plans to launch smart wide-bandgap-based Intelligent Power Modules (IPMs) and Smart Power Modules (PMs) that will further reduce system size and increase power density, helping to create more compact and efficient UPS system footprints.
